What a week!

After Shane's 1st day of school I asked Geraldine if she would watch Connor and Bri for me so I could hear all about his day! Well When I left Shane at school he had a nervous look on his face but was doing fine. When I came to pick him up he was red eyed and ready to Go HOme! I guess it was a very long day for him. Apperantly he cried off and on the entire day! I felt horrible. He absolutely hates LUnch! I guess the lunch lady yells loud and it makes him very nervous. I keep trying to tell him that she has to talk that loud so everyone can hear her. Besides I wish I could say he has never been yelled at but it is simply not true! His teacher Mrs. Billlingsley said that he had a very hard time any time they would transition from one thing to the next.

Well it has been a week and he still cries each morning when he leaves the with his class. He has been tapering off with the crying in his classroom and today he said he only cried a little bit during lunch.

On the third day I asked him what his favorite part of school was and after a pause he said, "the end when you came and got me" The 4th day he said "The part that I didn't cry" I don't know what to do with him! From the minute he wakes up in the morning he wants to know if he has school and why he has to go and why I can't go with him and how sad he is going to be! It has been a week and I can finally say You don't have school tomarrow and he is already saying "when does school end! do I have to go AGAIN!? I don't want to go!

I don't know what to do with him! I have tried everything I can think of! I have tried explaining why it is important that we go and all of the good reasons mom's don't get to go! I draw a smiley face on his hand every moring. John gave him a blessing, which I think was very good for him and the next day he said it had helped. We have a special prayer every morning before we leave. I have told him there will be a special treat in his lunch and to look for it and not cry. Anyway you get the point. I am grateful his tacher as been so patient with him!

WISH ME LUCK FOR NEXT WEEK!

Openig Ceremony Olympics

I love the Olympic and I Love Chinese Food! So I couldn't think of a better way to watch the opening Ceremonies in Beijing than making Chinese food laying out towels for the boys to eat in front of the TV. And to make it a little more fun for the boys I gave them wooden skewers to use as chop sticks. (OK so what I would have loved to do was throw a dinner party with a Chinese/ Olympic theme. but honestly it was either clean the house or make dinner)
I do have to say what I did see of the ceremony between helping kids and taking away chop stick weapons was absolutely incredible!

The boys were playing and Shane said something about parachuting. The next thing I know Connor has a shopping bag on his back and is jumping off the rock! Shane thought that was a great idea but decided for the more the better and ended up with about 4 bags strapped to his back! Oh what will they come up with next!

Shane's 1st day of Kindergarten

He was demonstrating some soilder guy. I just thought it was cute.

Ok I never thought that this would be a sad day for me but it is! I am just thinking about how his whole life I have been involved so much I have basiclly been able to know exactly what he is doing and how he is doing all the time. Today as I dropped him off I was thinking about how much I am going to miss out on his life! He is gone for 6 HOurs a day!!! I am so grateful I have been able to be a stay at home MOM. I know there have been many complaints over the years but I rally am greatful for the time I get with my kids!
I measured the boys

Rain In Mesquite?!!!

Connor's Train. He lined up all the wheel toys to make a train.

Once when I looked over at Bri she was using the shovel like a spoon!

OH How we love to play outside when it's raining! It is such a rare thing around here and a huge treat for all of us!

Shane lost a Tooth!

John had Shane tie a string around his loose tooth and keep moving it all around! It didn't take long for it to come out. He put the tooth in a jar until time for bed then he put it in an envelope and put it under his pillow. He came in the next morning about 6:00 and said the tooth fairy had not come! I had him go see if his tooth was still in the envelope he came back with the envelope and his $$$$ he was so excited IT ACTUALLY WORKED! His new tooth is coming up nicely.

OH....Sigh

So this is just a glimpse of what it is like at the "Zarate Zoo". I was walking back from next door and Bri was crawling around on the ground and nosed dived into the dirt. So I picked her up and heard a scream come from my house and Shane came running over and finally in between screams said he had smashed his finger in the door! OUch!! As I am trying to see how bad Shane's Finger was hurt. Connor comes in from out side and says," There is an emergency out side. Do you want to hear." I said yes and he continues with "Once upon a time there where a whole bunch of ants and they were crawling around on the ground and then climbed up my leg." Oh I was glad that that was the EMERGENCY!
Yes we made it through that 10 min. of the day and I hope to make it through the rest of the day! What am I going to do with 4 kids!

$$$ Finding Treasure $$$

So we stole this idea from Your Blogg Amanda! And the kids loved it! Geraldine spent a long time carefully putting all of the little treasures into a huge mixing bowl and freezing them in layer by layer. Shane was THE master at getting the little treasures out! He set his spray bottle on the jet stream mode and bored holes into the ice. It was so funny because Ann would tell shane which thing she wanted and Shane would go to work. IT worked out really well because Shane was more excited about the fun of getting them out and Ann was all about the Treasure! These pictures are a little old but I wanted to put them on. We always have so much fun when Maggie's family comes to visit.

HaPPy BiRtHdAy Bri

Great Grandma White gave Bri some money. Connor "helped her unwrap it then proceeded to hand it out!

I can't believe she is already 1 year old! She started out very nicely picking off the parts of the cake and then she deicovered CHOCOLATE! Horray!
Update (yes I made the cake with help from the boys)
Shane and I were trying to decide what kind of a cake we should make her. When I saw the idea for this one we both agreed it was perfect! She was always climbing in the garden and eating the dirt so what would be better than a garden cake with all the chocolate dirt she could eat! The boys even got in on helping me decorate it. They did the grass and the crushed up oreo dirt! It was a lot of fun.
