The BOYS hunt

My dad had a Deer tag for Nevada area 23 (Up by Pioche for all you who are unschooled in all the hunting lingo) So John, dad, Jordan ( my brother Gary's boy), Shane, and Connor headed up on Saturday and camped out, listened to Conference on the radio and did some pre-scouting for the opener on Mon. They had a great time shooting dad's 22 and just camping out with just the boys! Monday morning they got up super early, road the 4 wheelers out to the predetermined spot and Dad got his deer!!! OK that made it sound really easy but I wasn't there and that was about all the details I got until John started telling me about When the real work begins. Apparently the deer ended up way down at the bottom of a HUGE canyon!! John, Shane, and Jordan walked down with John to clean it and pack it out. Well they got down there and it was freezing Cold!! John lit a fire and let Shane warm up a little while he gutted it and got it ready to carry out. So needless to say John ended up caring the whole deer out by himself. I hope his back will recover!! Meanwhile back at the top of the hill Grandpa is trying desperately to warm a freezing Connor. As soon as he did Connor fell fast asleep!! Any way a good time was had by all and they were all ready to be home in their cozy beds again.

The Boys Ready for a long COLD ride!

Connor is in there somewhere fast asleep.

Funny Funny Stuff

I know I always post Connor funnies but the last couple of days it has been Shane that has said some funny things.
The other night my mom and dad came over to help me Can some pears and we decided to just go to a restaurant to eat. To get the boys excited I told them we were going to a FANCY restaurant. To me it seemed that anything without a play land would be considered fancy. So anyway we went to this sit down Mexican restaurant in town. Well the next day Shane informed me that the restaurant we went to was NOT in fact FANCY. Curious to his definition I asked him what would have made it fancy. He thought for a minute and said, "A Disco Ball". I honestly don't even know how he knows what a disco ball is!! It was hilarious.

This morning we were talking about how next year he would be in 2ND Grade. A little while into our discussion he said, "Mom, why do you keep saying next year? I was in Kindergarten for like four years!!" It is funny to think how time to kids is so long...................... and it seems to me that each year goes by quicker than the one before.

John's Antelope hunt

For those of you that are a little squeamish these are hunting pictures so you might want to skip over this post.

With that said these are the pictures from John's hunting trip for Wyoming Antelope.

John My dad and my brother Glen left Saturday and drove all day to get up to the area John was hunting. John has been so excited for this hunt since way before he drew the tag!! He has been gearing up for the last couple of months trying to get prepared for this hunt. South Pass City
South Pass City

Sorry these pictures are posted backwards so here they are packed up ready to leave after the hunt. Nice set up huh!

John and Glen skinning the Antelope. Dad had the great idea of using the 4-wheeler ramps to hang it up seeing as how there are a lack of trees in the area.

John's 1st Antelope! Way to go Babe!!!

John was able to get these pictures by putting the camera up to the spotting scope! So this Antelope is really far away.

Camp way down there!!

John said they saw tons of Antelope everywhere he just had to weed through them to find the best one.

I grow up not to far from where John was hunting so for my dad and brother this was also a trip down memory lane! These next photos are more nostalgic photos than anything else.

The drag line-on the mine where my dad worked.

I guess dad was like a puppy dog with his head hanging out of the window while they were in and around where I grew up. Dad was so excited to see everything again. It has been a long time since any of us have been back to see.

This drum-roll please..... was the house I grew up in. Green River Wyoming is where I lived from when I was 2 years old until I was 13 years old.
The house really hasn't changes much in the past 17 years since I lived there. Wow 17 years!! The colors are still pretty much the same it still has the same fence and shed!! There were no trees in the front and the Garage was not a garage but a big family room!

These windmills were not there but man it only make sense seeing has how there are always hurricane force winds blowing there!!

Well that is probably more info than anyone needed but hey it's my Blog!
Now back to the hunt as you can see the Hunt was successful! I think he was disappointed that he shot it on opening morning and was done! All that prep work and anticipation was over! At least he has another hunt coming up next month!!
